Neither a late passing rain shower nor street construction could dampen Bronzeville's spirits on Friday, August 14th! Our midsummer stroll along the 43rd Street corridor was a success, bringing Commerce, Community, and Culture to life in full force.
From King Drive to Ellis Avenue, neighbors, visitors, and local business owners once again proved why this neighborhood stroll is the premier celebration of local economic power.
Here is how the night unfolded!
Fashion & Unmatched Vibes on King Drive
Our 19-year veteran anchor, Bronzeville Boutique By Lady Mocha, kicked things off on King Drive in true show-stopping fashion. Packed with style, delicious food, and electric crowd energy, the block was set on fire with back-to-back sets from DJ Fansee and DJ Plug Thug.
Commerce & Entertainment at Park 43
The Park 43 Vendor Market had something for absolutely everyone, paired with top-notch live entertainment. Host Jeronimo kept the energy moving, DJ Marco set the mood, and we all sang and danced to the soulful sound of Amber Whitted’s vocal performance, alongside a moving spoken-word set by Eros The Poet.
DJ Tony Swaaga helped keep the party going, spinning live outside MB Luxury Nail Lounge. Speaking of MB Luxury Nail Lounge… did you catch the show-stopping performance by salon owner Maisha B, who debuted her hot new single?!?!
Activating the Corridor: From Cottage to Ellis
Our new and seasoned brick-and-mortars at 43rd & Cottage Grove—including Lilypad’s Açaí Bar, Fleurish Chicago, Small Shop Cycles & Service, and Nitro Nostalgia—held things down for a second consecutive month, with DJ Blk Soldier ushering the crowd past Cottage and down 43rd.
As the stroll moved east toward Ellis Avenue, the 4th Ward Alderman's Office activated as a “stop” on the BSN stroll for the first time, offering valuable community resources, sweet treats, and popular 360 photo ops! Next door, Next Man Up Spa delivered superb vibes, as always, right alongside DJ Red, who was holding down the block. The ladies across the way at FAIE African Art Gallery and MITC Studio beautifully anchored the end of the route with stunning art, fashion, and soundtrack by DJ Mo Milli.

We’ve officially wrapped two incredible summer strolls, but we’re saving something extra special for our season finale!
Mark your calendars: Bronzeville Summer Nights is moving to Saturday, September 26th (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM) along the historic 47th Street corridor (from Wabash Ave to Cottage Grove). We’re leaning into autumn vibes with a family-friendly afternoon featuring a vendor market at South Side Sanctuary, fall crafts, dancing, and delicious seasonal treats.
