Your Guide
to Bronzeville

We’re READY for Bronzeville Summer Nights - Friday, August 14th (5:00 PM – 9:00 PM). Are you?!? While intentional commerce is at the heart of our mission, the culture is what fuels the journey!

Music is the soul of Bronzeville, acting as the ultimate "breadcrumbs" guiding you down the 43rd Street corridor (from King Drive to Ellis Avenue). From heavy-hitting DJ sets to live performances, here is your official breakdown of the sonic landscape powering our August stroll:

Spotlighting Black Women in the DJ Space

We are beyond proud to elevate and celebrate the incredible women shaping Chicago’s music culture. This month, we are featuring two DJs from the Black Women in the DJ Space photography exhibit, alongside two of their powerful sisters on the turntables:

  • DJ Fansee (Bronzeville Boutique – 4259 S. King Dr): Bringing electric vibes to keep the energy flowing on King Drive (5-7pm).

  • DJ Plug Thug (Bronzeville Boutique – 4259 S. King Dr): Featured in the exhibit, dropping high-energy beats at one of our longest-standing neighborhood anchors (7-9pm).

  • DJ Red (4th Ward Alderman Office / Next Man Up Spa – 928 & 946 E. 43rd St): Holding down the block with crowd favorite sets.

  • DJ Mo Milli (MITC Studio / FAIE African Art Gallery – 1005 & 1007 E. 43rd St): Featured in the exhibit, spinning soul and sound near Ellis/Berkeley Avenue.

Live Performances

The music doesn't stop at the turntables! As you make your way through the corridor, prepare to be moved by live vocalists, spoken word, and special neighborhood showcases:

  • Park 43 (43rd & Forrestville): Hosted by Jeronimo Speaks with DJ Marco setting the mood, catch a soaring live vocal performance by Amber Whitted, followed by a raw, powerful spoken-word set by Eros The Prince of Poetry.

  • A Debut by One of Our Own at 43rd & Langley: Catch DJ Tony Swaaga spinning live at Amour Hair Salon & MB Luxury Nail Lounge, featuring a special live performance by salon owner Maisha B, debuting her new single!

  • 43rd & Cottage Grove: DJ Blk Soldier returns to hold down the east anchor of the stroll

The one and only Dana Davine will be back to guide you through the corridor as our Host In Motion.

Every beat you hear on 43rd Street is designed to move your feet—and keep your dollars circulating right here in our community!

Following our incredible season opener on Cottage Grove, Bronzeville Summer Nights (BSN) is keeping the momentum rolling! On Friday, August 14th, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, we are taking over the historic 43rd Street corridor (from King Drive to Ellis Avenue) for a ‘midsummer's night’.

Our mission remains focused on intentional commerce—circulating dollars locally while celebrating the vibrant soul of Bronzeville. Here is your official guide to navigating the August 14th stroll!

From BSN Vets to Newbies, and everyone in between

You all showed up and showed out for our businesses on Cottage Grove. Now let’s keep that energy going on 43rd Street! We’ll be strolling down 43rd, starting with our 19-year business veteran, Bronzeville Boutique By Lady Mocha, all the way down to our family members celebrating their 2-year anniversary at MITC Studio on Ellis/Berkely, and everyone in between. If you missed our newest additions, Fleurish Chicago  & Lilypad's Açaí Bar, last month… you’re in luck, as they and the rest of the crew at 43rd & Cottage will be back for round 2!
